Usha Seejarim

With a number of large commissions and opportunities under my belt, the biggest honour was the opportunity to create the official portrait for Nelson Mandela's funeral in Qunu December 2013. As a conceptual artist I work primarily in sculpture, installation, video and public art. My work explores notions of identity and context with a fascination for the mundane and the ordinary, often using domestic and found materials in my art-making.
