Michael Meyersfeld was born in 1940 in Johannesburg. He attended King Edward VII School for both primary and high school. After taking a gap year working at Olivetti, he completed a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) at University of the Witwatersrand. He subsequently joined the family business, which he left in 1980 to pursue photography professionally. In 2018, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours, followed by a Master of Arts in 2022. Meyersfeld’s fascination with photography began at around the age of ten. Photography has remained the central thread throughout his working life, spanning both fine art and advertising. A veteran of the medium, he has built an extensive portfolio of local and international exhibitions and campaigns.
