I am a South African artist drawn to the quiet power of sea, sky, landscape, and wildlife. My work centres on capturing the atmosphere of a fleeting moment—whether the muted glow of sunrise, shifting mountain shadows, or the restless rhythm of the ocean—seeking to evoke both memory and emotion. Working primarily in oils, I also explore ink and watercolour for their fluid, expressive qualities. My recent focus on wildlife brings a new dimension to my practice, using soft, neutral palettes and impasto textures to create depth, movement, and presence. I aim to tell visual stories that reflect both the beauty and fragility of the natural world, while emphasising the interconnectedness of all living things. Through layered textures and tactile surfaces, I invite viewers into a space of stillness and reflection—encouraging a deeper connection to nature and a shared responsibility to protect it for future generations. Born in Boksburg in 1971, I am now based in Pretoria, South Africa. I completed my matric at Hoërskool Waterkloof in 1988 before pursuing a Diploma in Theatre Crafts at Pretoria Technikon (TUT), specialising in décor design, painting, and stage and film make-up (1989–1992). From 1993, I worked professionally as a make-up and décor artist on both local and international productions. Around 2010, I shifted my focus away from commercial work to develop my voice as a self-taught fine artist—a journey that continues to evolve. Since then, I have participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions across Pretoria and Johannesburg, including shows at Johann van Heerden Gallery, Art Lovers 1932, Saxonwold Art Events Gallery, and Decorex Midrand. My solo exhibitions include *A Memory of Light* (2014), *Saudade* (2015), *Becoming* (2016), and *In Isolation* (2020). Each exhibition marks a step in my ongoing exploration of atmosphere, memory, and the natural world.
