Graham Hide (Stargazer Art)
Born in Johannesburg in 1977. Graham is a passionate, natural born, artist who was forever drawing, painting, and creating models out of leftover packaging boxes, plastic tubs, and glue. He was the child who was on one side of the classroom on his own trying to paint a sailboat, while the rest of the class was sitting on the carpet listening to the teacher read a story. This childhood dedication led to him achieving honours in art at the end of matric, and he went on to study fine art at Parktown college, where he specialised in painting and drawing, but also studied sculpture, print making, graphic design and photography. Graham spent the first few years of his career painting very large backdrops for the events and theatre industry, working on over two thousand backdrops over the course of his career, many of which went overseas to America, South America, Canada, the UK, Australia and even Japan. Graham has also worked on countless mural projects in hotels, casinos, restaurants, malls, shops, churches, offices and of course, many resplendent homes. He has also produced many canvas paintings and portraits, film sets and stages, including miss world. In 2015 he partnered up with a fellow art enthusiast and entered SA’s Got Talent, where they performed live two-minute speed painting shows and made it to the semi-finals. Graham has performed well over 100 live speed painting shows, all over South Africa, and overseas, including three live TV performances. Graham has been featured on Top Billing, Kyk-Net, Die Groot Ontbyt and D-TV, and his artwork has been published in several art books and magazines. Today he continues to work as an artist, still learning from the artists that came before him and passing his knowledge and experience on to the next generation of artists. Graham continues to produce murals for his loyal and satisfied client base, and sells his paintings from his website.
