Florian Junge

As a self-taught and continuously exploring artist, my main fascination with art and life is the balance and interplay between the external and internal universes of existence. The physical-spiritual, body-mind relationship, or any other way one may wish to label these. This plays out in my work in a very simple manner. The medium of predominantly reclaimed steel that I work with, is a pretty lifeless cold, hard, physical mass that has outlived its intended purpose and been stripped of value. I use this to express an idea or emotion, intended to communicate a message to the viewer. Things like action, flows, movement and efforts seem to hold a high emotional value. In short, my work is the journey from raw, sometimes hard labour, to the point of impacting the emotions of people. This then creates new value, new life, and speaks of more than what bodies can touch, feel or see.
