Bruce Hancock

CLASSIC SOUTH AFRICAN HISTORIC LANDSCAPE PAINTER

(1912 - 1990) This talented artist started painting in 1937 when he received informal tuition and encouragement from the artist W.G. Wiles. He started painting with watercolours and pastels, then progressed to oils. Bruce received no formal instruction in drawing or painting; his natural talent was developed through hard work and the enjoyment of expressing himself through his art. His work was exhibited very regularly at art shows throughout South Africa and was sold widely over five decades, both in South Africa and abroad.
